Kananaskis Country is considered the best kept secret of the Canadian Rockies. Simply, it is a pristine paradise that welcomes locals and visitors alike. The mountain scenery is picture-perfect, the wildlife and flora are breath-taking.

Kananaskis could be visited at any season of the year.  Feel free to explore its towering mountains, evergreen valleys, immaculate lakes and glacial streams. The region is an ideal place for those who want to reconnect with and experience the wilderness in all its glory.

Kananaskis is one of the largest outdoor recreation area in Alberta. It has been specially developed to provide outdoor opportunities for recreation. Entertainment displays also abound which deal with the region’s cultural and natural history.

Hiking trails offer access to the similarly stunning Banff National Park as well as Elk Lakes Provincial Park. Golfers need not feel left out thanks to the 36-hole Kananaskis Country Golf Course which challenges players at any level. Whitewafter rafting could also be had along with trail riding tours. Experience a full 150-kilometer of interpretive trails and hiking.

Come winter, enjoy the sights of a horse-drawn sleigh ride wonderland through the Kananaskis Valley. Allow yourself to not just see but experience the swoosh of skis through the soft snow. Kananaskis Country is also home to the 1988 Winter Olympics held in Calgary in 1988.
